Thoughts of the Morning

Psalm 1
Blessed is the man
who walks not in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stands in the way of sinners,
nor sits in the seat of scoffers;
but his delight is in the law of the Lord,
and on his law he meditates day and night.
He is like a tree
planted by streams of water
that yields its fruit in its season,
and its leaf does not wither.
In all that he does, he prospers.
The wicked are not so,
but are like chaff that the wind drives away.
Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous;
for the Lord knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked will perish.

Dear Lord,
You say the man who does not follow the advice of the wicked is blessed, or as in other translations, he is HAPPY. I want to be happy. I want to avoid the advice from the wicked. Give me eyes to see those who are wicked, and ears to hear advice that is not of You. When I see mockers making ill use of their words, may I not just pass by, but speak up against them.

Your instruction is given to me so beautifully in Your Word--and how much more I need to be gleaning from it! May my delight be in your Word. I know that delighting in Your Word is in Your will, so I pray in faith to receive delight in Your Word this day. May I meditate on it both day and night--hiding it in my heart that I might not fall into sin.

I am humbled as You watch over my way both day and night....guide me as I undertake this day in You.
