All Things New

Tonight, curled up in a chair with my hair wound up in a towel, I am relaxing and waiting to pray in the new year--if I don't fall asleep before then ;). I am reminded of a chorus by Stephen Curtis Chapman:

"You make all things new
You make all things new
You redeem and You transform
You renew and You restore
You make all things new
You make all things new
And forever we will watch and worship You"

Right now those words just seemed so appropriate....our God--the Creator of the ends of the earth--makes ALL things new! He gives us chances to have new starts, fresh beginnings, and brand new opportunities. I could think back to all that has happened in the past year. But honestly, some things I don't want to rehash in my mind. There are some hurts that have happened that I don't want to dwell on in light of everything about to happen. I would much rather be excited about what He is GOING to do in the year ahead. Because, after all--"No, dear brothers and sisters, I am still not all I should be, but I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead...." *Philippians 3:13*

I love the scriptures about newness--mainly because I am one that needs so many new beginnings! The more I read the more I see how merciful God is for new beginnings. He gives us new chances for new changes to come for His glory:
"He who was seated on the throne said, 'I am making everything new!' Then He said, 'Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.'" *Rev. 21:5*

As everything is becoming new in three and a half short hours, I am humbled and excited to see what God is going to do in the year ahead. I KNOW big things are coming--I must keep my eyes focused on the One who makes my tomorrow worth facing. I look forward to traveling into the new year with you all....let's pray it in together =)

Blessings from 2009....and looking forward to 2010!
